On-site Soil Consultation
A farm visit to look at your soil, plants and problem areas in person.
If you'd like an on-site consultation, I'm happy to come out to your farm. We'll walk the paddocks together and look at your soil, plants, weeds and any problem areas. I'll take the samples while I'm there, so there's nothing for you to organise.
Why a microscope test?
I use the Soil Food Web methodology, looking at a live sample under the microscope.
Field kits like the microbiometer read soil life by colour. They give you a quick number, which is handy for tracking change. But they can't see what's actually living in your soil, so they can't tell good fungi from disease or show whether anything is cycling nutrients for your plants.
Under the microscope I can. I count the bacteria and fungi, find the protozoa that feed your plants and check the nematodes. I also catch warning signs, like disease or soil going anaerobic, before they hit your crop.
It's the difference between guessing and knowing.
How it works
- Book your consultation here
- I'll contact you to arrange a date and time
- We walk your farm together and I take the samples
- Your results and plan arrive by email
Pricing
- Consultation + one sample: choose your assessment above. The price includes the $180 consultation.
- Extra assessments: sometimes one sample isn't enough, for example where soil types change across the farm or paddocks are managed differently. Extra samples are assessed at the standard price.
- Travel: $75 per hour, return trip from Woodford.
- Lab fees: charged at cost, based on current EAL pricing. The amount depends on which chemistry tests your soil needs.
Any extra assessments, travel and lab fees are invoiced together before your results are delivered.
Where I travel
Anywhere within two hours of Woodford, including Moreton Bay, the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Somerset, the Lockyer Valley, Kilcoy and surrounding areas.
